Crossing the line ceremony February 1965. AB Bob Gresham is in this photo a Gunner on A Gun. He won the Far East Fleet heavyweight boxing final by hitting his opponent on the top of his head for a KO.
Here's the sender of the above photos Dave Whittall who was onboard for 9 months training as an OA2 1964-65. Here he is waiting to go ashore to hospital in Aden to have a piece of metal removed from his eye. He had to sleep on a mattress behind he bar in the Aft PO's Mess before progressing to a hammock in the low power room.
